Life is not only about work.
I like to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
These are some of the activities I like to do when I have the time:
HIKING
During my research stay in Austria I discovered what it is now one of my strongest passions: being in contact with NATURE.
Thus, if I am not in front of a computer, you will often find me hunting for the next viewpoint to climb to.
WORK OUT, YOGA & MEDITATION
Sometimes, life does not allow you to escape into nature as often as one would like. To keep my mind and body strong and flexible, I try to work out at least 3 times per week and complement it with a morning routine of yoga and meditation. During my trip through the SouthEast of Asia, I found this amazing meditation school, Samma Karuna, in which I was volunteering in exchange for access to their awakening programm. It may have been the 2 hours yoga sessions everyday, the lovely human beings of the community, or a mix of both, but those were the days I have felt the best, physically and emotionally, in my entire life. Months later I would come back to this school and work as the manager for the volunteer programm and the “Yoga Teachers in Training Course” ❤️.
DIVING
I have to admit that as a semiprofessional swimmer there was something that really embarassed me. I was afraid of the deep blue sea. Maybe I had seen too many movies of sharks and giant monsters under water waiting for the perfect time to eat you!
That was about to change! When my sister came to visit me in Thailand, one of the surprises I had prepared for her was a 4 days diving trip to Koh Tao
. There we would get together our Open Water
certification with the spanish diving school, IHASIA.
The experience was more than amazing. Once that I could see what lies under me, the fear was gone.
After a few dives, I got hooked not only to explore the colorful corals and fishes but to the deep meditative state that you can only experience under water.
During my trip I continued diving. In Koh Phangan
, I saw the largest fish in the world, a whale shark. It was just a baby, but it was still 4m of sweetness!
Then, I improved my diving skills in the Perhentian Islands
. I got my Advanced Course
which allows you to go deeper, visit sunken ships, and dive under more difficult conditions (i.e. strong currents).
With these new skills at hand, I performed my last dives in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Komodo
.
SURF
I am not even close to a real surfer, but I just adore all the sports related to water! And surfing is definetly something I would love to dig deeper into.
MUAY THAI
I consider myself a pacifist, but… I was in Thailand and I couldn’t leave without practicing the local sport: Muay Thai, the world’s most powerful martial arts fighting system.
It was the first time I tried any combat activity, but I went all-in and signed up for a month of intensive training in the beautiful and remote town of Pai, at Sitjemam’s gym.
I was gladly surprised by the positive energy and the great friendships I found there. To be honest, I would never have thought that I was going to have so much fun!
